The official image of BFM36 celebrates the Norwegian actress and director Liv Ullmann, the star of the 2018 historical retrospective. She is portrayed in one of her most iconic films, Persona. The three images, taken out of context and enhanced by the use of colour, seem to abstract and examine the figure captured in the moment, to achieve the dreamy and contemplative aesthetic so dear to Bergman.
